About This Role

Job Title: 1:1 Outreach Tutor - SEMH (School Refuser Support)

Location: Wakefield

Salary: £90-£110 a day dependent on experience and qualifications

Leader Education are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Outreach Tutor to support students from a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wakefield. This role focuses on working with children who are currently unable to attend school due to their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will deliver personalised learning sessions within students' homes or community settings, aiming to re-engage them in education and build positive, trusting relationships.

Role Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is essential
  • Ability to deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions adapted to individual learning levels
  • A nurturing, patient, and resilient personality with a trauma-informed approach
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle (business insurance required upon offer of the role)
  • Confidence in lone working and managing behaviour in a safe, supportive way
  • Ideally hold a background in Teaching, Youth Work, Mentoring or Counselling
