Job description
At Leader Education, we are recruiting for a Children's Mental Health Learning Support Assistant to support a primary aged child 1:1 with Autism and other learning difficulties within a school setting based near Corbridge, Northumberland.
The successful Children's Mental Health Learning Support Assistant will have had previous experience working with young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as a genuine interest and passion to helping children reach their full potential.
This is a great opportunity to develop a deeper understanding about working with children who have moderate and severe learning disabilities. This role is suitable for candidate who drive. Qualifications are desirable but not essential to this role.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 until 16:30 on a long-term basis.
The successful Candidate will:
- Candidates will need an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check on the Update Service or the willingness to obtain one
- Provide one-on-one support to the child and have knowledge on Education Health Care Plan's
- Monitor and manage the child's behaviour and wellbeing
- Support the development of their social and emotional skills
- Be prepared to assist with personal care if needed
- Prepare and adapt learning materials
- Have a compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting the child and their additional needs
