Job description
Leader Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant who would thrive within a school setting based in the Newcastle & North Tyneside areas, supporting children aged between 4 to 18 years old with both Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs & Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND).
This role is primarily aimed toward individuals with previous Armed Forces experience due to the range of essential transferable skills that can be brought to the role. Some experience working with vulnerable people or other relevant fields would also be ideal.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- Have experience of working in a transferable role is ideal
- Follow personalised curriculums and care plans to meet pupil's requirements
- Work with the pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the child's curriculum through lesson planning
- Possess good classroom skills
- Set up lessons, equipment, and activities within the classrooms
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for the pupil
