Job description

Leader Education are looking for a Food Technology Teacher to work at a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) School based in Sunderland. This school has recently moved to a new base with great facilities. The role requires the successful Food Technology Teacher to work within their KS4 base, conducting lessons on cooking skills, preparation and the science behind nutrition and food safety. Previous experience working with young people who have SEMH needs is ideal.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4.30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or the willingness to obtain one.
  • A QTS Certification.
  • Knowledge to educate students on nutrition, healthy eating, and the science behind food.
  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment.
  • An excellent knowledge on the Safeguarding and welfare of children.
  • Regularly assessing students through practical work, written assignments, and projects.
  • A good knowledge on EHCP's.
