Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Leeds

Contract Type: Long term - Supply

Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about working in an alternative provision setting.

This role involves supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) therefore, experience with SEMH or vulnerable individuals is highly desirable.

This primary setting is part of a large group of specialist schools who we work with to help support their daily sickness calls, long term sickness and permanent placements.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:00 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have experience of working in a transferable role or with SEMH individuals.
  • Lead activities with individuals or small groups to facilitate educational development.
  • Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported.
  • Provide a stimulating and well-structured learning environment suitable for pupils with SEMH.
  • Be flexible and resilient.
  • Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
  • Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities.
