Job description

Leader Education are recruiting mulitiple SEMH Teaching Assistants to work at a specialist bespoke school located in Kirklees. This school caters for children aged 11-16 years old that all have an EHCP in place and usually will have more than one need e.g. SEMH, ASC, EBSA, challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a challenging role with children within Education or Residential settings.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:00pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Some experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting
  • The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Experience in food technology or a related field is desirable but not essential
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children
  • A compassionate personality and values honesty, inclusivity and respect
