Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Location: Northumberland

Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education are recruiting a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Northumberland.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have experience working with children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or vulnerable adults.

This school is dedicated to providing top tier education to its 100 learners. Guided by core values of respect, integrity, compassion, honesty, and trust, this school ensures that every aspect of the curriculum and student care reflects these principles.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 16:30pm and is a long-term position. Leader Education are dedicated to ensuring that we find adaptable roles and schedules that work effectively for you.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have experience of working in a transferable role.
  • Have prior experience working with vulnerable people with health care plans.
  • Have a knowledge of SEMH children and behaviours they may display.
  • Be confident in working alongside students, assisting them with their learning and general classroom activities.
  • Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students both in a group and a 1:1 setting.
  • Enforce positive behaviour and encourage pupil's confidence.
