Job description

Leader Education, is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a Northumberland based secondary school who has an ability to support teachers and participate to the wellbeing and development of students. This position will require the successful LSA to work with young people aged 11 to 16 years with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH). This educational institution takes pride in upholding its fundamental principles, providing top-notch education to a limited group of 100 students. It caters to their diverse requirements within a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or the willingness to get one.
  • The ability to collaborate with vulnerable individuals who have health care plans.
  • An understanding of SEMH children, their needs, and the various behaviours they may exhibit.
  • The confidence in working closely with students, providing support in their learning, and participating in general classroom activities.
  • Adaptability with their communication skills tailored to suit students in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • An positive and enthusiastic outlook.
