Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Pay: £23,000 - £24,500 per annum
Contract length: Permanent
Start date: ASAP
Location: Stockport
Leader Education is working in partnership with an independent SEMH School based in Stockport working with children aged 5-17 years-old.
We are recruiting for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist independent SEMH school, providing educational support to students.
You will have previous experience of working with students with SEMH - social, emotional and mental health issues (previously known as BESD, SEBD & EBD).
Your new role involves:
- Supporting students with SEMH difficulties on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Liaising with teachers to ensure the best possible progress for the pupil/s
- Managing challenging behaviour when students become anxious or upset
- Delivering fun, engaging activities and sessions
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil/s
You need to be:
- Able to handle challenging behaviours confidently
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the specific unique needs of SEMH learners
- Creative and organised in your approach to aid learning
- Passionate about helping students that may have become disenfranchised with education, to achieve their personal and academic goals
