Job description

Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work at a secondary SEND school based in North Tyneside. This school caters for children aged 11-16 with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This school prides itself on motivating and inspiring their students through a designated curriculum that supports all students through their journey in education. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of EHCP's and some experience working alongside children with SEND or ASC.

This schools most recent Ofsted report was presented as "Good" with them continuing to provide tailored support to pupils through high-quality teaching and a positive school environment for students underlying needs.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
  • Some experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Difficulties (SEND) or ASC
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A knowledgeable understanding of the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people
  • A patient, compassionate personality and the ability to support the students in accessing the curriculum and classroom activities
  • A good understanding of EHCP's
