Job description

Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work at a large SEND school based in Peterlee. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a range of SEND, has a high level of autonomy, as well as an ability to adapt. The school has ages ranging from 2 - 19-year-old with a diverse range of special educational needs. They pride themselves on being a warm and welcoming academy that helps to secure the best possible outcomes for their students.

Their latest Ofsted rating was presented as "Good" as they continue to create a vibrant, enjoyable and inclusive space for children.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4.30pm and is a long-term position, given a successful trial.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An Enhanced DBS or be willing to gain one
  • Educational background or work experience relevant to the position is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
