Job description

Leader Education are looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a Mainstream Primary School based Newcastle. The successful LSA will work 1:1 with a child who has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Ideally, the successful candidate would need a level 3 qualification in supporting children with SEND and experience working with SEND children.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 3:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Experience of working with children with SEND.
  • A motivating and supportive presence towards the children.
  • An encouraging attitude towards the students by assisting them with their needs within the classroom.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • An ability to empower the students when reaching achievements or small goals.
  • An ability to help to plan classroom activities and prepare materials needed for each lesson.
