Job Title: Sport Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Location: Pontefract, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education is recruiting a Sport Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Pontefract. This role is ideal for someone with experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will support students in Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them to engage in lessons, physical education and sports activities that promote their physical and emotional well-being.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 3:30pm and is a long term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Help manage classroom behaviour, promoting positive behaviour and engagement during lessons
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support, helping students develop physical skills, confidence, and social interactions
  • Support students during sports activities, ensuring they can participate safely and effectively
  • Monitor and report on student progress, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement
