Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: South Tyneside

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education are recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work within the primary sector of an alternative provision.

This school caters to students who are unable to access mainstream education due to their varying Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural needs.

This provision provides a nurturing environment and an alternative curriculum to equip students with life skills, ensuring they achieve the best possible outcomes and move successfully to the next step in their education or career.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update system or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Have experience with SEMH or vulnerable individuals.
  • Have experience working on a 1:1 basis.
  • Have experience working with individuals with more challenging behaviour.
  • Establish a supportive and consistent relationship, promoting a positive learning experience.
  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of the academic, emotional, and behavioural needs of the child and respond to these effectively.
  • Be flexible and resilient.
  • Possess good classroom skills.
