Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Gateshead
Contract Type: Long term temporary
Leader Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a SEND primary school in Gateshead.
The pupils at this school have a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Therefore, prior experience with vulnerable individuals is essential.
The school is deeply committed to maintaining an inclusive, supportive, and joyful learning environment, where education, equality, and understanding are central to its values.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:
- Have a current DBS that is on the update system, or a willingness to obtain one.
- Have experience working with/supporting children in a group or 1:1 setting.
- Support the teacher in working with the children and partaking in classroom activities.
- Work alongside teachers to develop and implement effective lessons, activities, and resources.
- Collaborate with teachers regarding behaviour management and interventions.
- Ensure that children are making sufficient progress within class.
- Be adaptable to the different needs of SEND pupils.
- Have the communication and interpersonal skills to engage with pupils, parents, and members of staff within the school.
