Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Mental Health Support

Location: Leeds , West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education are recruiting Mental Health Teaching Assistants to work at a large SEMh school based in Leeds. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children on a 1:1 basis. The school caters for young people aged 11-16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties in Key Stage 3 & 4 who have been either temporarily or permanently excluded from mainstream education. School based experience is not essential as relevant transferable skills, experience and personality will be taken into consideration.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 3:30pm and is a long term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with SEMH needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • A good sense of HUMOUR! The ability to be lighthearted!
