Job description

Leader Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work at a Primary School based in North Tyneside. The ideal Teaching Assistant will have relevant qualifications as well as experience in working with children on a 1:1 basis. The school caters for young children in Key Stage 1 and 2, the students at this provision may also have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Child & Adult Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of SEND and the ability to support students with those needs.
  • Patience and empathy in dealing with students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
  • The ability to implement and support the development of positive behaviour.
  • Knowledge of relevant educational policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices.
