Job Title: SEMH PRU Tutor (Community-Based)
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract Type: Long Term
Leader Education is recruiting an experienced SEMH PRU Tutor to deliver tailored educational support to students aged 14-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves working directly with students who are unable to attend school, providing tutoring in their homes or at local community centres. You will play a vital role in supporting students who have been excluded or expelled from mainstream education, ensuring they continue to engage in learning and make academic progress.
Position Details:
- Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
- Long-term role
- Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs, particularly those disengaged from mainstream education
- A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with challenging behaviour
- Strong subject knowledge to tutor students in core subjects (English, Math, and Science) at GCSE level
- Excellent communication skills for building positive relationships with students, families, and other professionals
- Confidence in working independently within varied settings such as homes and community centres
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
