Job Title: SEMH Behaviour Mentor

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Long Term following successful trial

Leader Education is recruiting SEMH Behaviour Mentors to support young people at a Secondary PRU and SEMH settings in Wakefield. This specialised role is ideal for those passionate about making a positive impact on students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who are no longer in mainstream education. While experience in a school setting is helpful, we welcome candidates with relevant skills, experience, and a genuine interest in working with young people facing SEMH challenges.

Position Details:

- Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

- Long-term role with the potential for permanent placement

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or additional needs

- Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to supporting students with complex SEMH needs

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building trust and positive relationships with students and colleagues

- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the dynamic needs of students and the school

- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
