Job description
Leader Education are recruiting a SEMH Learning Support Assistant to work at a Pupil Referral Unit based in Northumberland to deliver literacy interventions. The ideal LSA will have experience in working with young people with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs and experience of working 1-2-1 delivering literacy interventions, as well as a genuine interest and commitment to helping them reach their full potential.
At Leader Education, the normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30am until 4pm and is a long-term position.
The successful candidate will:
- Have an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or the willingness to obtain one
- Have Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or other relevant qualifications are desirable
- Have effective behaviour management strategies
- Monitor and manage students' behaviour and wellbeing
- Prepare and adapt learning materials to meet the needs of students
- Provide one-on-one support to students with EHCP's
- Have previous experience working with secondary-aged students in an educational setting
- Have previous experience of delivering literacy interventions
