Job Title: SEMH Teacher

Location: South Tyneside

Start date: ASAP

Leader Education are seeking an SEMH Teacher to join an alternative provision in South Tyneside.

This specialist setting supports pupils aged 4-16 with a range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured and nurturing environment tailored to their individual challenges.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS or QTLS and have experience working with SEMH students or managing challenging behaviour.

The goals of this school are to help students grow, learn, and progress both academically and socially, enabling them to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30-16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A current DBS that is on the update system, or a willingness to obtain one
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and relevant teaching qualifications
  • An understanding of SEMH
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with pupils, parents, and all members of staff
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • Adaptability and initiative to accommodate for various learning type and abilities, striving towards social and academic development
