Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work in specialist SEND schools based in Wakefield. These schools cater to students aged 4-19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech and Language Difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children and young people on a 1:1 or small group basis within a classroom setting, though relevant transferable skills and experience will also be considered.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, and the role is long-term.

The successful candidate will have:

- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly those with Autism, SEMH needs, or complex learning difficulties.

- A patient, nurturing approach to supporting students with a wide range of abilities and needs.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other support staff.

- The ability to adapt and respond to the dynamic and individual needs of students.

- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
