Job description

Leader Education are recruiting a SEND Learning Support Assistant to work at a large specialist school located in Sunderland. The ideal candidate will be friendly, compassionate and have some relevant experience working with young people or children with ASC and SEND. This school caters for young people and children aged 11-19 with autism and complex learning difficulties, aiming to provide tailored support to ensure inclusivity and an inspiring curriculum.

Their latest Ofsted rating was presented as "Good" and have since maintained a great quality in teaching by continuing to make a positive impact on young people and children's lives.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting and ensuring the well-being of young people and children
  • Some related experience in working alongside young people with complex learning difficulties such as autism or similar
  • The ability to assist with classroom activities and support pupils in accessing the curriculum effectively
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children
  • A compassionate personality and values honesty, inclusivity and respect
  • A good knowledge of EHCP's
