Job description

Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work at a large SEND School based in Peterlee. The ideal LSA will have some knowledge and experience with working with young people, as well as having gained experience working in relevant roles. The school caters for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities from the ages of 2 to 19 years by providing them with holistic learning and daily support.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or the willingness to obtain one.
  • A good knowledge on children with SEND and the support that they need.
  • Knowledge to conduct one-on-one or small group support with students, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • The ability to assist with classroom activities, providing necessary accommodations and modifications to meet individual student's needs.
  • Knowledge on monitoring and recording student progress, can report to teachers, and adapt support strategies when needed.
  • Can assist with behavioural management, ensuring a safe and respectful school environment for all students.
