Leader Education is currently recruiting for multiple Behaviour Support Worker for a SEMH specialist school in Blyth, Northumberland.

This school provides education to both primary and secondary school students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs. This school also works in partnership with other local primary and secondary schools to offer alternative education pathways to students who need additional support. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with children, students or adults with additional needs and associated challenging behaviour in a school or support setting.

The job:

• Provide support to students with SEMH needs in a small group or 1-1 setting
• Help students meet the objectives in their education and health care plans
• To take direction and assist the class teacher
• Support students in managing and regulating their feelings
• Ensure the best quality of education for each pupil
• Help create and maintain a secure and happy atmosphere
• Engage with the students throughout their learning whilst in the classroom
• Model and nurture positive relationships and strong partnerships
• Liaising with SENCO and the designated safeguarding lead to promote positive outcomes.

You:

• Have experience of working with children/students with SEMH needs
• Are patient, sensitive and compassionate
• Are understanding and have empathy
• Have a passion for teaching and learning
• Ability to make learning enjoyable and fun
• Ideally Team Teach trained but not essential – free training is available
• Are motivated and enthusiastic
• Have great communication skills
• Have a fun but firm presence.
