Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Sunderland

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education are recruiting a conscientious Learning Support Assistant who would thrive within a Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school.

This Sunderland based secondary school focuses strongly on preparing pupils for life beyond school, ensuring they reach the highest levels of personal achievement and development. Their values of honesty, inclusivity and respect are all reflected throughout daily interactions within the school from both pupils and staff.

The ideal Learning Support Assistant will successfully help pupils to excel in a positive learning environment offering support and assistance.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have previous experience within schools or working with vulnerable service users.
  • Assist pupils in lessons and activities.
  • Be flexible and resilient, meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
  • Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported within their learning and general classroom activities.
  • Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities.
