Job description

Leader Education are recruiting for a SEND Support Worker to work at a small SEND school based in Amble. This school caters for children aged 2 to 19 years old with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) this role will involve working 1:1 with children or in small groups. This school celebrates itself on providing a meaningful and fun curriculum that engages all children. The ideal Autism Support Worker will have some experience working with SEND children as well as a genuine interest and passion for education.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • A compassionate, understanding personality that values inclusivity and respect
  • Some experience supporting students with SEND in an education setting is desirable
  • An understanding of the safeguarding and ensuring the well-being of children
  • A good understanding of children who have SLD
