Job description
Leader Education are seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant, for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision in Newcastle. This position creates a fantastic opportunity for classroom development and a great way to get further exposure and experience. Leader Education can offer free training and continued personal development courses to further enhance the successful candidate's skills and training. This role will include working with children from Key Stage 1 through to 4 and will involve working 1:1 and in small groups.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.
The successful candidate will:
- Have an enhanced DBS on the update service, or the ability to obtain one
- An ability to follow instructions, school's policies and procedures
- The ability to work well in a team and be able work with others in a collaborative manner
- Be patient, considerate, and to be a good amount of compassionate
- Have a genuine interest for the well-being of all children
- Support the teacher with planning lessons and activities within the educational setting
- Assist with the preparation of materials for lessons
- Supervise the students during activities and outings
- Provide good communication towards staff members, parents, and carers
- Support the students with their individual needs
- Maintain the cleanliness and keep the student's environment safe and clear
