Job description
Leader Education are recruiting for a SEND Learning Support Assistant for a specialist primary school based in Gateshead. This school caters for children aged 2 to 11 years old that have a diagnosis of ASC and/or PMLD and supports children of all abilities access the curriculum to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will express a genuine passion for education and have some experience working alongside children with SEND.
This schools most recent Ofsted report was presented as "Outstanding" as it continues to create a safe, secure and nurturing environment for all pupils.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:30pm and is a long-term position, given a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Some experience working with children with a diagnosis of ASC and/or PMLD in an educational setting is desirable
- The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
- A good understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children
- A compassionate personality and values honesty, inclusivity and respect
- A knowledgeable understanding of EHCP's
