Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract Type: Long-term role with potential to go permanent

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Wakefield. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about supporting children's learning and development across the primary age range.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Assist with small group work and 1:1 support, ensuring all pupils can access the curriculum.
  • Help with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and learning activities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support social and emotional development.
  • Work with pupils of varying abilities, including those with additional needs, to promote progress.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and assist in tracking learning outcomes.
  • Uphold school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour management.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting (preferred).
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience).
  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting children's learning.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
