Job Title: SEND Primary Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support - Year 1)
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract Type: Long-term role with potential to go permanent

Leader Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil in a mainstream primary school in Wakefield. This role is ideal for a patient and enthusiastic TA with experience in SEND, particularly supporting young children with additional needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with SEND, ensuring their academic and personal development.
  • Assist with classroom engagement, behaviour management, and differentiated learning activities tailored to the child's EHCP.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies that promote learning and progress.
  • Support the child's social and emotional well-being, encouraging confidence and independence.
  • Use creative and adaptive methods to engage the pupil in lessons and school activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school setting.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience).
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
