Job description

Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work at a large Secondary School based in Ashington who cater for children aged 11 to 19 years old. The successful Learning Support Assistant will have a good knowledge on educational health care plans (EHCP's) as well as experience in working with children with special educational needs & disabilities (SEND) and social emotional mental health needs (SEMH) or have relevant transferable skills. This schools places a strong focus on helping students reach their full potential by working hard, cultivating a positive attitude toward learning, and embracing a wide range of activities and opportunities.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 3:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An enhanced child and adult DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
  • A good knowledge and experience working with children who have SEMH needs
  • Knowledge and skills relevant to working with SEND children
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • An energetic and proactive approach towards supporting the children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A good understanding of EHCP's
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • Proficiency in utilising technology for teaching and learning purposes
