Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract Type: Long-term role with potential to go permanent
Leader Education is seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic SEMH Nurture Teacher to join a specialist SEMH provision for children aged 11-16 in Wakefield. This rewarding role is ideal for an educator passionate about supporting the holistic development of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The role focuses on creating a nurturing environment to support students' academic, emotional, and social growth, fostering resilience and positive relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored lessons that prioritize emotional well-being alongside academic progress.
- Establish a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of students with SEMH.
- Plan and implement strategies to support personal and social development, in line with individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Use a nurturing approach to manage behavior and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and other professionals to provide holistic support for students.
- Track student progress and provide regular feedback to parents, carers, and senior staff.
- Maintain high standards of teaching and safeguarding practices.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Experience teaching in a nurture or SEMH-focused setting.
- A deep understanding of how to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
- Effective classroom management strategies that foster a nurturing environment.
- A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification (desirable but not essential).
