Job Title: SEMH Science Teacher
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract Type: Long-term role with potential to go permanent

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Science Teacher to join a specialist SEMH setting for students aged 11-16 in Wakefield. This rewarding opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The role will primarily focus on teaching Science, but flexibility to cover other subjects as needed is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons to students with SEMH needs across KS3 and KS4.
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages academic progress and emotional well-being.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual student needs, in line with their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement holistic strategies that promote positive outcomes for students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular feedback to parents, carers, and senior staff.
  • Uphold high standards of teaching and safeguarding practices.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience teaching Science, ideally in an SEMH or SEND setting.
  • The ability to engage and inspire students with a range of abilities and needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement effective behavior strategies.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and supporting the personal development of students.
  • A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification (desirable but not essential).
