Job description

Job Title: SEND EYFS Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract Type: Long-term role starting in April until the end of the academic year

Leader Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting supporting children aged 2-4 years. The children in this provision may have medical conditions and complex learning difficulties.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the early development and learning of young children in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to children with a range of additional needs, including medical conditions and communication difficulties.
  • Assist in implementing personalized learning plans that align with each child's development goals and EHCPs.
  • Support the development of communication, social skills, and motor skills through engaging and sensory-rich activities.
  • Foster a warm, safe, and stimulating environment that promotes positive interactions and early learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet each child's unique needs.
  • Ensure high standards of care, including assistance with feeding, toileting, and mobility when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and provide feedback to parents, carers, and senior staff.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting young children, ideally in an EYFS, SEND, or medical care setting.
  • A nurturing and patient approach to working with children with complex needs.
  • An understanding of early years development and play-based learning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
