Job description
Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Sunderland
Contract Type: Long term
Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) secondary school.
The school supports students with Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), so experience with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with SEND pupils and be comfortable providing 1:1 support.
During its most recent Ofsted inspection, the school was rated 'Good,' with inspectors highlighting the safe, happy, and supportive environment that actively supports student development.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:
- Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
- Have experience of working in a transferable role.
- Assist pupils in lessons and activities.
- Be flexible and resilient, meeting the diverse needs of students.
- Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
- Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported within their learning and general classroom activities.
- Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities.
